Samarinda (25/05/2023). The Indonesian Polytechnic is a vocational higher education institution that focuses on education and training in the fields of technology, manufacturing and industry. The aim of the Indonesian Polytechnic is to become a higher education institution that excels in the fields of technology and industry and produces graduates who are competent and able to compete in the global job market.

Indonesia and Taiwan already have a strong relationship in trade and investment. The two countries have also established cooperation in the field of education, including student exchanges and scholarship programs. Taiwan has a number of world-renowned universities and higher education institutions, especially in the fields of technology and manufacturing. Meanwhile, the Indonesian Polytechnic has advantages in the field of vocational education and industrial training, and has programs that are relevant to the needs of industry in Taiwan.

Therefore, the potential for cooperation between the Indonesian Polytechnic and universities or higher education institutions in Taiwan is enormous, especially in the field of vocational education and industrial training. In order to sharpen Politani Samarinda's vision and develop wider international cooperation, a visit to Taiwan is very important. Through this visit, Politani was able to expand her network and build cooperative relationships with universities and higher education institutions in Taiwan, as well as introduce Politani's potential and advantages in the field of vocational education and industrial training. The visit by the Director of Politani Samarinda Hamka, S.TP., M.Sc., MP in the framework of exploring and enhancing cooperation with universities and higher education institutions in Taiwan by TETO was carried out face to face for 6 (six) days on the 15th to. May 20, 2023 in Taiwan.

From the results of visits to the eight destination universities, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with four universities in Taiwan, namely Ming Chi University Taiwan, Lung Hwa University Taiwan, National Chin Yi University Taiwan and Cheng Shiu University Taiwan. Next, a follow-up plan for collaboration is prepared, including for the education sector in the form of internships, double/joint degree programs and summer camps and for the research sector in the form of lecture exchanges and collaborative research. For the double/joint degree program several program model options have been developed which will then be discussed and decided by each polytechnic.

To support the implementation and develop cooperation between polytechnic campuses in Indonesia and Taiwan campuses, it is necessary to immediately implement a Joint Working Group (JWG) which can formulate a cooperation scheme that can be held in the fields of education, research, or industrial cooperation. Overseas trips in the framework of increasing cooperation between the Indonesia-Taiwan Polytechnic by TETO in Taiwan have made a significant contribution in achieving the stated goals.

This visit initiated cooperation between Indonesian polytechnics and universities in Taiwan, as well as strengthening opportunities for broad cooperation between vocational higher education in Indonesia and various higher education and industries in Taiwan. Through collaborative discussion meetings involving university officials and lecturers, visits to campuses, laboratories and related facilities, meetings with Indonesian students in Taiwan, working group discussions, and preparation of cooperation prospect documents, U to U and P to P connectivity have been realized. connectivity between universities and individuals), and documents on prospects for collaboration between universities and/or Indonesia-Taiwan polytechnics in 2023.

This activity is expected to provide significant benefits, including increasing the capacity and quality of vocational higher education in Indonesia, strengthening relations between Indonesia and Taiwan in the fields of education, culture, research and technology, as well as opening opportunities for wider cooperation in curriculum development, implementation practical education programs, and transfer of knowledge and technology.

Hamka stated that the cooperation that has been established and the results achieved on this journey will have a long-term positive impact on vocational education in Indonesia, especially for Politani Samarinda, strengthen relations between Indonesia and Taiwan, and help create graduates who are competent and ready to face the challenges of the world of work. . Hamka further expressed his gratitude to all parties who have supported and contributed to the success of this trip, including TETO, the Indonesian polytechnic, universities in Taiwan, and other related parties. In the future, TETO's role will be to oversee the cooperation program with Taiwan and provide support for the smooth running and sustainability of the program.
