Penajam, August 6, 2026 – The Plantation Management Study Program at the State Agricultural Polytechnic (Politani) of Samarinda held a community service activity focused on eco-farming in Riko Village, Penajam District, North Penajam Paser Regency, on Thursday (August 6, 2026). Held at the local community hall, the event was officially opened by the Head of the Plantation Management Study Program, Dr. Sukariyan, S.Hut., M.P. In his remarks, Dr. Sukariyan emphasized that this activity represents a tangible implementation of the *Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi* (Three Pillars of Higher Education)—specifically in providing real solutions to farmers' challenges—while simultaneously encouraging the sustainable use of land potential in the North Penajam Paser region.
The core of the activity was a presentation titled "Utilization of Eggshells (CANTOR) as Organic Agricultural Input," delivered by Andi Lelanovita Sardianti, S.P., M.M., a lecturer from the Plantation Management Study Program. She explained that eggshells—often viewed merely as household waste—contain high levels of calcium that help improve soil fertility. She also outlined the processing steps, ranging from drying and grinding to fermentation, enabling farmers to independently produce affordable, eco-friendly organic fertilizer.
Participants, comprising farmer groups and local housewives, showed great enthusiasm during the Q&A session and the hands-on practical demonstration. Many residents noted that they had not previously realized eggshells could be processed into beneficial fertilizer. This community service initiative aims to encourage the people of Riko Village to reduce their reliance on chemical fertilizers, manage household waste productively, and boost agricultural yields sustainably in the future.
