INTEGRATED LABORATORY
SAMARINDA STATE AGRICULTURAL POLYTECHNIC 2026

About the Laboratory

The SBSN Integrated Laboratory is a research and vocational education facility inaugurated on August 18, 2026, at the Samarinda State Agricultural Polytechnic (Politani Samarinda). Construction of the building began in 2025 using funding from the 2025 State Sharia Securities (SBSN) scheme, resulting from coordination between the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.

Building Facilities

The Integrated Laboratory building comprises five floors, with functions distributed as follows:

Floor 1 : Manufacturing Laboratory and Survey & Geospatial Laboratory
Floor 2 :
Floor 3 :
Floor 4 : Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory
Floor 5 : Auditorium

This facility is specifically designed to accommodate high-value-added academic research needs, featuring modern, integrated supporting infrastructure.

Functions and Strategic Role

The SBSN Integrated Laboratory serves as a hub for practice-based learning, applied research, innovation, and the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education (*Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi*). Its presence enables students to gain hands-on experience through practical work, testing, observation, analysis, and experimentation that reflect real-world conditions.

Beyond serving merely as a facility for practical coursework, the laboratory is positioned to become an integral part of Politani Samarinda’s research and innovation ecosystem. It creates opportunities for lecturers, students, and external partners to develop applied research relevant to real-world challenges in the agriculture, plantation, environmental, forestry, and applied technology sectors.

Research and Innovation Focus

Research outcomes from the SBSN Integrated Laboratory are intended to extend beyond mere academic outputs; they should be developed into innovations, downstream applications, appropriate technologies, policy recommendations, or solutions that provide tangible benefits to the public and relevant stakeholders. Research focus areas include:

Development of the agriculture and forestry sectors
Environmental management
Local food engineering
Soil quality mapping and plant nutrient analysis
Technology and Computer Science

Public Services and Industry Collaboration

This laboratory is not exclusively for the academic community; it is also equipped to meet the testing needs of the general public and the business sector. Standardized laboratory services provide opportunities for external parties—such as industries, independent researchers, and MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in East Kalimantan—to conduct quality testing at the Politani Samarinda Integrated Laboratory. Through the provision of professional laboratory services, it is expected that a stronger synergy will be forged between the academic sphere and the regional industrial sector.

Commitment to the "Tri Dharma" (Three Pillars) of Higher Education

The enhancement of these physical facilities is designed to support the three core pillars of higher education: education, research, and community service. With improved laboratory infrastructure, research activities are expected to become more productive, collaborative, and sustainable, while simultaneously strengthening the integration between education, research, and community service.
