Samarinda 09/27/2023 – Intensive collaboration between the central government and regional governments to advance vocational education is being intensively carried out. This is a very positive step in improving the quality of human resources and economic development in a region. One of them is the commitment to support from the Regional Government of East Kalimantan (Kaltim) and North Kalimantan (Kaltara).

In order to realize harmony through synergistic partnerships, the Directorate General of Vocational Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) through the Directorate of Partnership and Harmonization of the Business and Industrial Worlds (Mitras DUDI) became the facilitator at the Kick Off (Launching) Strengthening Program event Partnership Ecosystem for Regional Potential-Based Innovation Development in the East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan Regions. This activity was held at the East Kalimantan Governor's Office on Tuesday, September 26 2023.

The Partnership Ecosystem Strengthening Program aims to synergize partnerships and alignment between vocational education units and regional stakeholders to produce policy briefs. The policy brief contains workforce planning and innovation planning so that it can produce innovation to increase regional potential growth.

The Director General of Vocational Education, Kiki Yuliati, also conveyed the priorities and benefits of this program.

In his speech, Director General Kiki stated, "The implementation of vocational education must pay attention to the needs of the surrounding community. To make this happen, we all have to work together, both between the regional government and the central government through this partnership program."

According to Director General Kiki, this partnership ecosystem can create higher quality vocational education. Director General Kiki said, "Regional stakeholders can become actors in vocational education development by providing input to us. That's the ecosystem we want to build.”

In encouraging the realization of this collaboration, Vocational Universities (PTV) also took part as program administrators. The consortium of 4 Vocational Universities (PTV) specifically for the East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan regions, namely Samarinda State Polytechnic (Polnes), Samarinda State Agricultural Polytechnic (Politani), Balikpapan State Polytechnic (Poltekba), Nunukan State Polytechnic (PNN) will later be tasked with building partnership ecosystem between fellow PTVs, the business world and local governments to accelerate program implementation.

According to a report by the Director of Polnes, Ahyar M. Diah, there are 20 PTVs in the East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan regions who are administrators, while there are 65 state and private PTVs who are members of the consortium throughout Indonesia.

"We hope that the collaboration created by this program will be able to become a reference for solutions between vocational education and the business and industrial world regarding human resource needs and regional economic development," said Ahyar.

Apart from the launch of the Partnership Ecosystem Strengthening Program, through this opportunity the Governor of East Kalimantan, Dr. Ir. H. Isran Noor, M.Si. inaugurated the Regional Revitalization Coordination Team for Vocational Education and Training (TKDV) and the East Kalimantan Provincial Education Council.

Governor Isran said, "One of the strategies for vocational education is to strengthen the East Kalimantan Provincial Education Council and TKDV as an effort to create synergy."

According to Governor Iran, a nation without sufficient education will not progress quickly. In this way, TKDV and the Education Council are a way to help accelerate Indonesia's progress by revitalizing vocational education.

Through Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP) funding of IDR 55 billion to be used for three years of program implementation, the Regional Government of East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan Provinces is ready to commit and express support for regional-based research and innovation development programs organized by the Directorate General of Vocational Education, Ministry of Education and Culture.
