SAMARINDA (29/10/2027) — The academic community of the State Agricultural Polytechnic of Samarinda (Politani Samarinda) has once again achieved a notable international milestone. Haryatie Sarie, a lecturer and researcher at Politani Samarinda, has been officially invited to submit a full scientific manuscript for an international research topic titled "Next-Generation Agronomic Biofortification for Human Nutrition and Food Security."
This international research is being published through a consortium of high-reputation journals indexed in Scopus Q1 and Web of Science (WoS)—specifically *Frontiers in Agronomy* (Impact Factor: 4.2 / CiteScore: 6.8) and *Frontiers in Soil Science* (Impact Factor: 6.0 / CiteScore: 7.8).
The invitation was extended following the successful selection of the submitted manuscript summary. The research proposed by Haryatie Sarie is titled "Interactive Effects of Patchouli Cover Cropping and Soil Amendments on Soil Fertility and Nutrient Cycling in Coal Post-Mining and Natural Lands."
The study focuses on the use of patchouli (*Pogostemon cablin*) as a cover crop, combined with soil amendments, to restore soil fertility and nutrient cycling—specifically in post-coal mining sites and natural landscapes. This innovation serves as a strategic and highly relevant solution for the restoration of post-mining ecosystems in East Kalimantan, while simultaneously contributing to global food security.
According to the journals' guidelines, the full manuscript is scheduled for submission no later than February 26, 2027. The manuscript will then undergo an interactive, collaborative peer-review process, during which the author will engage in direct online discussions with prominent international editors and reviewers before the work is published via open access. This achievement in a world-class (Q1) journal further reinforces Politani Samarinda’s commitment to producing high-quality research that is globally competitive and delivers tangible impacts for society and the environment.
