Integrating classroom theory with real-world experience, students in the Plantation Management Study Program at Politani Samarinda recently completed a series of field internships in the heart of East Kalimantan's palm oil industry. For five days, they had the opportunity to learn firsthand at the PT. Perkebunan Nusantara IV (PTPN IV) Tabala Plantation in Paser.
Under the guidance of a professional team from PTPN and several accompanying lecturers, the students delved into the dynamics of large-scale oil palm plantation management, from selecting superior seeds in the nursery, through precise plant care techniques, to effective and efficient harvesting strategies. They also gained valuable insights into the palm oil value chain, from the tree to the Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) ready for processing at the mill. This field experience is expected to provide valuable resources for producing competent and competitive plantation professionals.
