Samarinda State Agricultural Polytechnic Participates in the Planting of 1,010 Liberica Trees and Participates in Setting a MURI Record in the Indonesian Capital City (IKN).
Samarinda, October 10, 2025 - The Samarinda State Agricultural Polytechnic (Politani Samarinda) participated in the planting of 1,010 Liberica coffee trees in the green area of ​​the Indonesian Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan. This activity is part of environmental conservation efforts and supports sustainable development in the IKN area.

The planting of 1,010 Liberica coffee trees also set a MURI record with the largest number of participants, with 1,486 people, in the Sanggai Watershed, within the IKN's Central Government Core Area (KIPP). This initiative was made possible through collaboration between stakeholders, including the Directorate General of Plantations at the Ministry of Agriculture, the Kutai Kartanegara and Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) Regional Governments, the Sepaku Liberica Coffee Farmers Community, Mulawarman University, the Samarinda State Agricultural Polytechnic, SMK Negeri 1 PPU, the Water Sports Activist Team, and various other IKN strategic partners. The initiative also received direct support from Bank Indonesia, Pupuk Kaltim, Bakoel Bambu, Selera Nikmat Nusantara, and Kampung Kecil.

The Director of the Samarinda State Agricultural Polytechnic stated that Politani's participation in this activity demonstrates the vocational higher education institution's commitment to supporting the government's program to realize green development in the new capital city. Liberica coffee was chosen as the crop due to its high adaptability to various soil conditions, including those in East Kalimantan, and its significant economic value. It is hoped that the planting of 1,010 Liberica trees will be the first step in developing a productive and educational plantation area within the new capital city. Through this participation, the Samarinda State Agricultural Polytechnic demonstrates its active role in supporting national development, particularly in the fields of agriculture and the environment, while strengthening the synergy between education and strategic government programs.

The event concluded with a group photo session and the planting of Liberica tree seedlings, demonstrating a shared commitment to maintaining environmental sustainability in the Indonesian capital.
