The release of industrial internships (MI) was led directly by the Director of the Samarinda State Agricultural Polytechnic (Politani) Hamka, S.TP., M.Sc., MP., as many as 340 students were released to carry out the Industrial Internship program in 2022 in 92 companies/ agencies spread across the East Kalimantan Region such as Berau, Kutim, Kubar, Samarinda and also the island of Java. The ceremony for the release of industrial internship students was held at the Samarinda Politani Directorate Office Courtyard on Friday (26/08/2022) which was attended by the Director as the supervisor of the ceremony, Deputy Directors I, II, III and IV, heads of departments, heads of study programs and lecturers.
8 study programs whose students carry out industrial internships, namely the Forest Product Processing Study (PHH) as many as 33 students with internship locations in 6 companies, Plantation Plant Cultivation (BTP) dispatches 39 people in 9 companies, Plantation Products Technology (THP) releases 26 people with the number of industrial internships is 7 companies, the Environmental Management (PL) study program is 46 students in 16 industrial locations, the Geomatics Technology study program releases 40 to 17 companies, the Plantation Management study program is 68 students in 9 places, Software Engineering Technology (TRPL) dispatches as many as 66 students at 23 internship locations and Wood Engineering (RK) study program 22 students at 5 companies.
Previously, students had participated in Santiaji / briefing activities for 2 days offline on August 24-25, 2022, various materials that supported the implementation of industrial internships had been delivered by the resource persons. This Santiaji activity is needed to provide debriefing, understanding, insight, knowledge of what needs to be done, paid attention to while students are in industrial locations. Industrial Internship activities are carried out for 3 months for the D3 study program and 4 months for the D4 study program, departures to the location begin in early September and will end in November for the D3 study program, while for the D4 study program it will end in December 2022. In his remarks the Director Politani Samarinda, Hamka S.TP., M.Sc., MP. conveyed to the student interns that this industrial internship was a form of support for the success of the Merdeka Learning Campus Independent Program (MBKM) programmed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. Through this industrial internship, it is hoped that the competencies possessed by students will increase and according to industry needs.
And no less important is the responsibility that must be carried out during the internship, “as agents of change, students have a moral responsibility to the community, students must be observant to see the condition of the community and be able to provide solutions. It is hoped that this industrial internship can be a means to gain work experience in actual conditions in the field, can increase knowledge, skills, a means of applying ethics, communication procedures, and the ability to socialize with the community, as well as implementing the knowledge gained to the community. "Hopefully what has been obtained so far on campus can be applied well in the internship," he hoped. It was further stated that during the internship process it was not only the learning process and work experience that they had to carry out but how to maintain the good name of the campus was largely determined by their attitudes and actions while in industrial locations.
