The Samarinda State Agricultural Polytechnic (Politani Samarinda), in collaboration with the Samarinda City Police, the East Kalimantan Indonesian Palm Oil Producers Association (GAPKI), and the Samarinda City Politani Alumni Association (IKA) held a corn planting event as part of the National Food Security Program.
The event took place on Thursday (July 24, 2025) at the Politani Samarinda Green Open Space (RTH). In his opening remarks, the Director of Politani Samarinda, Hamka, S.TP., M.Sc., MP., emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in maintaining food security amidst global dynamics. He stated that agricultural vocational education must be actively involved in promoting locally-based food security.
Next, the Samarinda City Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Hendri Umar, S.I.K., M.H., expressed his support for this productive and beneficial activity. He expressed his hope that such activities could become part of the ongoing agenda of police synergy with educational institutions and the community to create food stability and social security.
Also delivering remarks were Rachmat Perdana Angga, Chairman of the East Kalimantan Agricultural Association (GAPKI), and representatives from the Samarinda Agricultural Association (IKA Politani Samarinda), who expressed their appreciation for the spirit of togetherness in maintaining local food availability through agricultural activities.
The event continued with a symbolic corn planting by all participants, including representatives from institutions and partners, Heads of Departments, Heads of Study Programs, and several lecturers. This activity is expected to not only be the first step in the productive agriculture movement but also strengthen inter-institutional relationships in addressing future food security challenges.
Through this program, Samarinda Agricultural Association demonstrates its role as a vocational education institution actively supporting the national agenda and agriculture-based regional development. (PR)
