Samarinda (12/06/2024) – Through the best planning program at the Samarinda State Agricultural Polytechnic Campus (Politani), the Acting Governor of East Kalimantan and the leadership of the Politani campus carried out harvesting with organic plant demonstration plots. In this event they harvested horticultural crops ranging from cucumbers, eggplants, chilies to planting musangking durian tree seeds. The agenda, which presented typical dances from the Kalimantan Dayak tribe, took place in the Politani campus area on Wednesday (12/6).
Director of Politani Samarinda, Hamka said that today's joint harvest activity is a form of enthusiasm on the Politani Samarinda campus. This is a form of challenge from the Acting Governor of East Kalimantan to produce Horticultural plants for three months. "Thank God, we were able to answer the challenge from the Acting Governor. For three months we used natural fertilizer until we produced a large harvest of eggplant and cucumber. Meanwhile, there are three thousand types of plants. Starting from five hundred cucumber seeds, five hundred eggplant seeds and the most chilies. "And we also plant companion plantation crops such as palm oil, coffee, pepper and cacao," he said.
He said, in the near future the campus will also build agrotourism to support tourism in the Samarinda City area. Coincidentally, this year the party received a grant from the Ministry of Education, Research and Technology for a climate change anticipation program. “We got 2.3 billion to create green open spaces. So later we will pair it with agrotourism. "So all people who want to see tourism potential or maybe see plantation crops and food crops, please come to Samarinda," he explained.
He hopes that with the support of the Acting Governor of East Kalimantan who is present directly at the Politani campus, he can provide enthusiasm and support for the campus. "Moreover, the Governor gave a challenge in the future to process ex-mining land into agrotourism. "We will definitely make it happen together with shared enthusiasm," he hoped.
Meanwhile, the Acting Governor of East Kalimantan, Prof. Dr. Drs. Akmal Malik expressed his appreciation for the successful harvest of Horticultural crops at the Samarinda Politani campus. “This harvest is the result of my provocation to Pak Hamka three months ago. So he came to hold an audience and discuss food issues. "Thank God, he and the students proved it today by harvesting together," he explained.
Akmal said that in the future there will also be new challenges for the Politani Samarinda campus. Namely a former mining hole left by illegal mining. One of the mine holes that can be reclaimed will be collaboration with PUPR Kaltim and ESDM to level the land. "Then we asked Politani students to re-fertilize the land. Of course we will plot first,
considering that there is a lot of ex-mining land, we cannot cultivate all of it. But at least we are providing an example to the community that the former mine can be managed. "Because as the late Bob Sadino said, the best planning is implementation in the field," he concluded. (HUMAS/PUS)
