Pelita Bunda Education Center Supports Politani Samarinda in Innovation in Meta-World Learning
SAMARINDA (09/10/2025) – As Pelita Bunda Education Centre celebrates its 17th anniversary, the spirit of innovation and collaboration in digital education resonates strongly. At this celebration, Pelita Bunda Education Centre marked a historic milestone by supporting Metaverse learning technology research developed by the Computer Innovation and Business Research (RIKUB) team of the Software Engineering Technology Study Program, Samarinda State Agricultural Polytechnic (Politani Samarinda).

The RIKUB team, led by Reza Andrea, collaborated with several leading universities in Indonesia, including Prof. Haviluddin & Prof. Hasbi Sjamsir (Mulawarman University), Dr. I Gede Partha Sindu (Ganesha University of Education, Bali), Mahir Prdana, PhD (Telkom University), and others. Together, they developed GetriVerse (Metaverse-Based Inclusive Geometry), an immersive geometry learning prototype specifically designed for exceptional children, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

GetriVerse integrates Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to deliver an interactive, sensory-friendly, and adaptive learning experience in the Meta world. The Meta app displays three-dimensional geometric objects directly from textbooks and VR goggles, equipped with a Reinforcement Learning-based AI agent that acts as a personal virtual teacher.

In her remarks, Dr. Andi Lisnawati (Head of P3KM Politani Samarinda) emphasized that the presence of GetriVerse is a new milestone for inclusive education in Indonesia. "We designed GetriVerse not just as technology, but as a bridge of equality for special needs children so they can learn, interact, and explore the digital world in a fun and empathetic way," said Bagus Satria, the programmer who developed Getriverse.

Furthermore, Reza added that the app will soon be distributed to inclusive schools across Indonesia, starting in East Kalimantan as a pilot project. This distribution will be carried out through collaboration across campuses, educational institutions, and communities of educators for children with special needs.

This research activity also produced a patent design for Metaverse Learning for Special Children, which includes an AI-based adaptive interaction system and AR-VR integration for geometry materials. At the culmination of the event, the patent design certificate was officially presented to the Pelita Bunda Education Center as a symbol of technology transfer from the university to the inclusive education institution.

Hj. Farah Flamboyant, S.Pd., M.Si.Edu (Principal of Pelita Bunda Special School) expressed her pride in this award, emphasizing that this innovation aligns with the institution's commitment to continuously adapting to the era of digital-based special education. "This collaboration is the most valuable birthday present for us. Pelita Bunda will be a pioneer in implementing Metaverse-based learning at the inclusive school level," she said.

With the support of various academics and the local government, this collaboration is expected to strengthen Pelita Bunda Samarinda School's position as one of Indonesia's centers of educational technology innovation, paving the way for inclusive learning transformation based on empathy, technology, and independence.
